In 2011 Reaching U strengthened the project by financing the Red Mate network, which aims to bring down the high levels of school failure among young people with visual disabilities in secondary education. The project is aimed at 100 young people age 12-30 with the possibility of attending formal education. The proposal contemplates the efficient use of computer tools, and the development of new skills to enter the labor market with greater advantages.
The lines of action to meet the objectives are:
- Production of materials using accessible media.
- Educational support for students with visual impairments.
- Extra-curricular workshops.
- Training of teachers and technicians.
- Training students for with visual impairments in the use of computer tools.
Through its support of the UNCU, Reaching U works for more young people to complete high school and develop new skills, but above all, to give them more opportunities for future employment. |
