LICEO JUBILAR
Teenagers :: Education

Liceo Jubilar Juan Pablo II is a free secondary education institution operated by a private entity in the Casavalle neighborhood in Montevideo. It was founded in 2002 and it now has around 100 students. At Jubilar students receive the mandatory State regulated education as well as enriching classes such as studying techniques, computing, elective workshops, library time, and a teenager center.

The Liceo Jubilar is located in an area were 79% of the population is poor and were 70% of the people in between 17 and 65 years of age have not completed high school. This area of Montevideo does not have a public high school. The waiting list at Jubilar is long and an extension is planned to serve these students in the near future. Reaching U provides scholarships and finances career training course for Jubilar students.

During the year 2009, Uruguay's Economy Ministry approved a project for Liceo Jubilar which means 25% of donations to that institution will be tax-deductible in Uruguay. If you want more information, contact Mercedes Portas.
