The Center for the Promotion of Human Dignity (CEPRODIH) searches for pathways out of poverty and living on the street. It offers training, tools for setting up micro-businesses, counseling, and medical care. This program also sets up agreements for paid internships. CEPRODIH has premises that function as shelters. Some people reside there while others seek overnight shelter.
Reaching U supplied funds for setting up a computer classroom where women are taught typewriting skills. It also donated money for fixing up and furnishing a daycare center. We had previously participated in rehabilitating and furnishing a space functioning as a day center for women and children who live on the streets. "La Panadería" ("The Bakery") was built and set up here, and two classrooms were refurbished for Laboratory Hygiene and Hospital Hygiene classes.
The Promover project started by CEPRODIH, specifically aimed at employment training for women in the tasks of laboratory hygiene was recently selected as a finalist in the Social Innovation Experiences organized by CEPAL (Economic Commission for Latin America) with support from the W.K. Kellog Foundation. The project aims to promote and lead the example for other creative and innovative social initiatives with active participation from the community as a whole. |
