Reaching U is a non-profit organization (501 (c) 3) based in the United States which performs work for underprivileged mothers, children, and teenagers in Uruguay. Since it was founded in 2001, the organization has distinguished itself through professional management, transparency and the support and hard work of many people who want Uruguayans to benefit from the opportunities, experiences and resources available in the United States.
We have formal working groups in New York, Washington DC, Miami and Montevideo, as well as members and volunteers working and sending their support from many other US cities.
Reaching U channels the funds raised to organizations in Uruguay. The rest is used to cover overhead expenses, which amount to barely 7%. By the end of 2011, Reaching U will have invested a total of $1 million in various Uruguayan organizations. Mission
The mission of Reaching U is to improve living conditions and opportunities for the neediest children and mothers in Uruguay, and help them gain self-confidence and the will to go forward to a more dignified life.
