The
Sixth Reaching U Silent Art Auction took place on October
25 in the Design District of Miami. It was the first
to be held in Miami. Many artists, most of them Uruguayan,
contributed works to this event, which was a fundraiser
for Uruguayan people in need. Approximately eighty people
came for an evening of art and celebration. Click here
to see the photos.
You are warmly invited to take another look at the catalog
and purchase the works that are still for sale. If interested,
please contact Reaching U by e-mail at info@reachingu.com.
We
would like to say a very special thank you
to those who donated artwork this year, many of whom
were the artists themselves, to the curator Stella Elizaga,
to the Fundación Itaú for a scholarship
for the Arts Administration course, to graphic designer
Ignacio Arocena, to Darca Realty for the function room,
to Bodegas Joanicó for providing the event with
red wine, to Martín Castro for the white wine,

A
evening of tango and live painting sponsored by Reaching U,
October 26th
|
|
On
October 26, members and friends of Reaching U once again
had the chance to gather at Opia Restaurant in Manhattan
to enjoy an evening of tango and painting. "Painting
Tango," directed and composed by Gustavo Casenave,
was a show that mesmerized the audience. The event was
sold out in advance and provided an excuse for Uruguayans
who reside in the NYC area to get together and once
again support Reaching U.
The
show was attended by about 80 people, who also stayed
for the drawing for the raffle of a Mini-Cooper. At
the end of the night, the painting created by artist
Vicky Barranguet was auctioned. Ms. Barranguet generously
donated 50% of the proceeds to Reaching U.
We
would like to say a very special "thank you"
to Opia Restaurant and its manager, Jimena Pereyra,
for all the help and support in organizing and coordinating
this event. Also, we are extremely grateful to Gustavo
Casenave, as well as the dancers, artists and musicians
who performed.
